My Favorite Carbonated Drink

First of all, I am not a fan of carbonated drinks.  They don’t taste all that great, they don’t typically make me feel very good, they cut down on your body’s oxygen capacity, and they aren’t very good for you.

Growing up my family didn’t drink soda very often.  And when we did it was typically Root Beer, Sprite, 7-Up, etc.  And since then I’ve never been very interested in branching out and trying other kinds.  So it was not until about a year ago that I tried Coke, Pepsi, Dr Pepper, and Mountain Dew for the first time.

I decided I really should try them all so that I could be a normal, cultured person.  Well, at least a more normal, cultured person.  So I tried Coke at a party.  It was as anticlimactic as I expected it would be and I kinda lost interest again.  But over the course of the last year I have been more open to trying different kinds of soda, and I have now sampled all of the popular ones multiple times.  I have now come to a conclusion of which one is my favorite.

Then last week I was at a fast food place.  I usually just get water or lemonade.  As I was ordering it occurred to me what a great opportunity it could be since the pop was all self serve.  I could finally compare all of them side by side.  So I did.  And it decidedly confirmed what I had already decided as to my tastes in soda pop.

So I’m sure you are reading this with great anticipation for the official unveiling of my decided preference: Dr Pepper.  It is hands down my favorite one.

I find Coke to be very bland.  The last time I had Pepsi it was reminiscent of some cleaning agent, though I couldn’t put my finger on which one.  Mountain Dew is intriguing—a superior relative of Sprite and 7-Up.  But Dr Pepper is the one most worth drinking.

Or as I like to call it: The Elixir of the Gods. I LOVE Dr. Pepper. I have a few for you to try at the party tonight.
